For over 20 years, Dee Dee Blanchard lied about her daughter Gypsy Rose's health, claiming that she had everything from muscular dystrophy to leukemia.

She also lied about Gypsy Rose's age, altering her appearance to make her look younger than she actually was.

These lies led to the pair getting free trips to Disney World, backstage passes to a Miranda Lambert concert, and even a house built by Habitat for Humanity — which came equipped with a wheelchair ramp and a hot tub. But it wasn't all fun and games.

In addition to forcing her daughter into a wheelchair and coercing her into acting like she had multiple "illnesses," Dee Dee Blanchard also hit her, destroyed her personal items, physically restrained her to her bed, and even denied her food.

But by the time Gypsy Rose was in her early 20s, she had had enough. So in a desperate ploy to escape, she asked her internet boyfriend to take care of her mother for good — and he agreed. 1/2
