In 2018, John Allen Chau made a controversial attempt to contact the Sentinelese, an isolated indigenous tribe on North Sentinel Island. The Sentinelese have long maintained their seclusion and are known to react aggressively to outsiders. Chau's motivation was to spread Christianity to the Sentinelese.
